We have received many inquiries about converting a foreign driver’s licence in Singapore. This blog will show you an easiest and shortest step-by-step instructions to follow. This is applicable for both car and motorbike licence.
Important: This guide is only applicable to non-Singaporeans.
1. Official Translation
If your driving licence is not in English, you will need an official translation of your driving licence from your Embassy, High Commission, or any Singapore registered translation companies.
The translation (or international driving licence) alone is good to use in Singapore for up to 12 months after your arrival. If you don’t intend to stay here longer than that, or if you are a short-term visitor, you can jump to the last step to rent a motorbike with us.
2. Basic Theory Test
Online register for the BTT at any of these 3 driving centres. Normally the next available slot for the test is 4-6 weeks ahead, or longer.
Bukit Batok Driving Centre
815 Bukit Batok West Ave 5, Singapore 659085
ComfortDelGro Driving Centre
205 Ubi Ave 4, Singapore 408805
Singapore Safety Driving Centre
2 Woodlands Industrial Park E4, Singapore 757387
3. Exam Preparation
No need to spend money on any books/materials. Just search for BTT Singapore on App Store or Google Play.
The exam is intended to be harder than the theory test in the US or Australia. So you will need to spend time preparing for it.
4. Driving Licence Conversion
You can pay for the conversion right after passing the BTT. Remember to bring these on the exam day:
- Cost is S$50 by NETS
- Original driving licence + official translation
- Your Pass + Passport copy
The card will be delivered to your home, and you will get a temporary licence immediately.
5. Rent a motorbike with AloRide
Using the temporary licence, you can rent a motorbike with us on the same day.
